New Obamacare Hotline, Live Chat Help Answer Affordable Care Act Questions

By Jenifer Dorsey

With Obamacare’s individual health insurance mandate taking effect in just six months, we are a nation with many questions. Many want a to know more about purchasing coverage through the new state-based insurance exchanges, which open for business on October 1. Others want information about Affordable Care Act specifics such as essential health benefits (particularly pediatric dental and vision) or if dental care is covered under the new law.

Yesterday, as reported by CNN Money, the administration launched a toll-free helpline and live-chat feature to help clear up public confusion. You can call 800-318-2596 (TTY: 855-889-4325) for 24/7 assistance. The live chat offered through healthcare.gov is a bit difficult to find. Scroll down to the menu bar at the bottom of the page and click on Help Center to access it.

As you prepare for the Obamacare health insurance requirement and factor your family’s dental coverage into the equation, contact a dentalinsurance.org sales consultant or your insurance agent. He or she can assist you in finding the right dental plan to round out your health insurance exchange benefits.

Use the Health eDeals Health Care Reform Calculator to estimate your annual health insurance costs and tax credits under Obamacare. This tool, launched in late May, can help as you plan ahead and shop for health and dental insurance for you and your family.
